Khalida Bellydance

Khalida is a multi-award winning professional belly dancer and instructor, born in Belgium, living in Germany. Known for her musicality, stage presence and technique, Khalida is quickly becoming a sought-after performer and teacher, both locally and internationally.

She has dedicated years of study to her art, and continues taking classes and workshops with top teachers from Europe, the US and Egypt whenever she can. Her main influences at the moment are Aziza of Canada and Orit Maftsir of Israel.

Her specialties include classical oriental dance and modern raks sharki as well as drum solos, dancing with zills, silk veil, cane and wings of isis. (See Workshop topics)

In the past few years Khalida has been featured at international belly dance events in Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, Israel, and Greece and she has been featured on several professional performance DVDs in Germany.

In 2007 she was awarded first place at Leyla Jouvana's 'Bellydancer of the World' contest and in 2009 she won first runner-up at the International BD Congress Isis Awards in the UK.  

In 2009 she danced as part of the folkloric ensembles of Magdy El Leisy (Cairo/ Germany) and Bondok (Cairo/ Germany) and she co-organized the first RAKS.be bellydance summerschool event in Leuven, BE together with Razia (USA) and Artemisia (BE).

Khalida currently offers private classes and performance coaching for dancers and troupes next to her weekly classes in Germany whenever she is in the country, and travels for workshops and performances across Europe and overseas. 

Students describe her as a charming, attentive, generous and knowledgeable teacher and an engaging performer with a passion for the art.
